Can I be forced to do anything I don’t want to whilst under Hypnosis?
No. Hypnotherapy is not the same as stage hypnosis, you are in full control at all times. You will be in a deeply relaxed state but fully aware of your environment and able to come back to full consciousness any time you choose.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Pretty much anyone can be hypnotised. The majority of people can manage a light trance, this is sufficient for most therapeutic purposes. So, most people can benefit from Hypnotherapy to a greater or lesser extent.
Are there any dangers?
None. You will be in a safe setting and will simply be deeply relaxed.
Will I remember what happened during Hypnosis?
It is normal to remember most, but not all, of the hypnotherapy session. This is due to the way that memory works. If you think about it we wouldn’t be able to remember all of a long speech but we would remember some of it. This is the same within Hypnosis.
What is Solution Focused therapy?
Within Solution Focused Hypnotherapy we always look to the future. It is not a talking therapy based on delving into the past and analysing past events. Instead, we focus on the positive characteristics of a person’s life to enable them to move forward and create the changes they desire. The process is a partnership between therapist and client, with the understanding that the client holds the answers to their problems, they just require help to access them.
What happens in therapy sessions?
The sessions start with a summary of what has been positive for the client since the last meeting, then an explanation of how the brain works in relation to the client’s issue, followed by future goal setting and how those goals could be achieved. After this the client is guided into deep relaxation and trance.
